Makeup; cosmetic beauty products

I usually don't apply makeup except for performances and even then, it is expertly done by the "aunties"; the parents of some members. This time, I tried to do so on my own.

I have always had a problem with applying rouge and eyeshadow out of all the different components of facial makeup. I was on the right track for the former but didn't believe in myself enough to actually attempt it. So I asked someone to do it for me instead. The trickier bit was the eyeshadow but she too, didn't know how to. So I had to do it myself.

I first chose my colours and then used the sponge applicator to smooth it above my upper eyelids. The amount was definitely excessive and that got me. I didn't know how to reduce it to a subtle finish. I decided to use my fingertips to blend and reduce simultaneously. It worked!! I refined it till it looked perfect by using tissue to wipe off the excess bits around the corners of my eyelids.

When I went for my rehearsal, I noticed my members looking at my face. I wasn't sure if it was from a positive or negative point of view but since they didn't say anything, I think it shouldn't have been negative.

It was an experiment that I took the risk of undertaking due to lack of expertly help but in the end, I learnt how to do it pretty well. :) I was quite proud of myself and it was fun too! I decided to try it again for work the following day. It was time-consuming so I doubt I'll do it again unless I've a performance.

I did put on makeup for my subsequent performances. I had positive comments that my face glows because of it. :) I asked the 'experts' on it and they said it was good. Yeh!

However, I refrain from doing it more often because makeup clogs your pores and I'm blessed with a good complexion anyway. Also, I believe that if one's attire is outstanding enough, there's no need for it.

Tee Hun Ching wrote an article that explored the possibility of having no makeup on one's face. I'm not an advocate of makeup too. I barely wear any, except for concealer and the occasional lip balm. Granted, I'm blessed with good skin for me to be able to do this.

I believe that heavy makeup does not serve to hide facial flaws but instead clogs the pores without one knowing. Even when I've a performance, I don't put absolutely heavy makeup. I just put slightly more colour so that I don't look sallow when the lights shine on me. That's the time when I indulge myself a little in applying makeup.
